Should I Return?

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or sign up for free Email Updates. Thanks for visiting!

If you’ve received this via email or RSS, than you might be a bit surprised. After all, it’s been quite some time since I’ve posted anything here. What can I say, I’ve been busy;) Did you need to try and remember why One Eyed View sounded familiar?

I’m making this post from my WordPress iPhone app. I’m currently on a 2G iPhone. However, just today I read about the 3Gs iPhone being released soon that has built in video capability. I’d post a link if I could, but so far the WP iPhone app won’t allow. Needless to say, I’m pumped!

When I first started blogging I had a huge interest in videoblogging. I still do, but lately my interest lies more in the technical aspects rather than actually producing video.

I plan to revitalize One Eyed View and I hope to do that by posting videos again. Maybe, the iPhone 3Gs will help?

If possible, feel free to leave a quick comment to let me know there’s someone out there who remembers the glory days of OEV…

Community Funded Reporting – Spot.Us

Have you ever heard of community funded reporting? I hadn’t until today, and after exploring it a bit, I had to write this post to share, hopefully you can link to this post, or share the information on your own blog after you watch the video below.

…and here’s the specific pitch I heard today.

Let’s make the world a better place and get stories like these reported more in depth shall we?

The Power of Visibility – What if You Were Homeless?

Jay Dedman posted a link to the Videoblogging list today about a videoblog called Invisible People. What is the site all about? Read below:

I once heard a story about a homeless man on Hollywood Blvd who really thought he was invisible. But one a day kid handed the man a Christian pamphlet. The homeless guy was shocked and amazed, “what! You can see me? How can you see me? I’m invisible!”

It isn’t hard to comprehend this man’s slow spiral into invisibility. Once on the street, people started to walk past him, ignoring him as if he didn’t exist… much like they do a piece of trash on the sidewalk. It’s not that people are bad, but if we make eye contact, or engage in conversation, then we have to admit they exist and that we might have a basic human need to care. But it’s so much easier to simply close our eyes and shield our hearts to their existence.

This post couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. I have moved to a larger city recently, and because of that, I am seeing more homeless people than I have ever seen before. In fact, there is a homeless guy that sits with a sign every day on the road I take to get to and from my place of employment. I have often wondered about his story.

Maybe one of these days, I’ll simply stop and ask…

Is This Your Garbage?

Pacific Ocean Plastic GarbageI heard a disturbing report about plastic garbage in the Pacific Ocean, and once I started researching this further, I was both appalled and ashamed of my race, the human race. I’m not an environmental extremist, but c’mon people! (myself included).
