Yesterday was a sad day for our family. I took our dog Derby to the vet because of several odd things that were happening including drinking a LOT of water, restlessness at night in the form of whining and smaller than normal stool. The latter usually means a blockage of some sort and Derby has been known to find his way into the garbage and eat foreign objects.
After many tests, he was diagnosed with a colon blockage and diabetes. The vet wanted to keep him for a few hours so they could try and get this blockage cleared, so I left him there and went home to research canine diabetes. I quickly found several websites dedicated to the subject and also learned what a life changing diagnosis this was for Derby and for us.
I’m sure I will be posting more about Derby and his condition as I become more familiar with his disease and how to manage it.
