    Stephen Hawking Flies!

If you don’t know who British physicist Stephen Hawking is or haven’t read any of his books, you should. In my opinion Stephen Hawking is a person who has a better grasp on human kind, and our place in the universe, than any other man or woman alive.

hawking.jpgI first learned of Stephen Hawking by watching a PBS special when I was in high school. Then I read his book, A Brief History of Time and it opened my thinking beyond the closed in world of a late teen, and I’d like to think that I’ve carried that sense of wonder and the faith that there is a reason for everything, into my adult life.

Stephen Hawking recently had the chance to ”fly” in zero-gravity. This alone would be a unique experience for all of us, but what makes it even more special is that Mr. Hawking is confined to a wheelchair.

    From Reuters:

Hawking acknowledged before the flight that experiencing weightlessness, even for a few seconds, would be sweet relief from the bondage of a daily life immobilized by a debilitating and irreversible neuromuscular disorder.

“I have been wheelchair-bound for almost four decades and the chance to float free in zero G will be wonderful,” Hawking told a pre-flight news conference.

Thank you Stephen Hawking, for being you.

Hi from Dubai - great article you posted. We read Bill Brysons a short history of nearly everything that hits on string theory 101 and helps us 101’s understand where Hawking is coming from….here’s to gravity free!
